FTC State Competition!
The two FTC teams are working hard on their robots and are now only a few weeks away from state. State competition is on February 26 in Iowa City. If the teams win the inspire award or the competition they will advance to the world championships! The world championship will be held in St. Louis. Good luck 4324 & 4150!
Website Updates
The web team has been working hard on bringing the Linn-Mar robotics site up to spec. We’ve currently been working on a “post-launch” list that covers some of the items we were developing for the preliminary launch of the site but were not able to include.
The current updates are as follows:
- Created a dedicated sponsors page
- Reworked sponsor descriptions/blurbs to include better company information and more complete content
- Updated Navigation to drop-down view
- Updated Member view page with new layout and photos of members and added an active member filter
- Continuing work towards being more compatible with Internet Explorer
- Working on updating sponsor sidebar and implementing it in our blog

Website Progress
The web team has been making progress on the new design of the website this year. Right now we’re completing the WordPress blog integration and wrapping up smaller application development portions of the site in preparation for focusing on web content.
Some of the features of the new Linn-Mar Robotics website are:
- New design & logo
- New navigation
- WordPress blog integration with custom skin
- RSS/XML pulls from Twitter & the FIRST Robotics website
- jQuery based Javascript Youtube Integration
- Custom web fonts
- New members database and search
- New contact form
After we complete the WordPress integration we will move onto finishing up some basic styling on the site, create a contact form, add some content, and prepare for launch. We have high hopes to have the site fully up for the start of the 2011 – 2012 FRC/FTC competitions!
FTC Kickoff

The FTC kickoff was on September 10, teams are now designing scoring systems, strategies, and brainstorming robot ideas for the game. This year’s game is called Bowled Over and the season is shaping up to be a great one as we have many new members coming aboard this year.
The Game:
Bowled Over! is played on a 12′x12′ diamond shaped field as shown on the diagram above. Two alliances, one “red” and one “blue”, composed of two teams each compete in matches consisting of a 30 second autonomous period followed by a two-minute driver controlled period… [full game description]
All information for Bowled Over! including game description, the full kickoff animation, and game manuals/guides can be found on the FTC 2011 – 2012 Game Information Page.
