PHP
The site uses PHP scripting language. The site mainly uses just one page, index.php. The site design is managed on this page. Within index.php, there are PHP calls to include-files to determine which menu item is selected, and which content should display. The PHP determines which area and page to use based on querystring variables passed in via the URL.

HTML
As of the beginning of the 2009/2010 school year, the site still uses some HTML tags that have been replaced or dropped in HTML 5. One goal this year will be to convert the site to HTML 5.

Dynamic Menu
The menu we are using this year came from http://www.dynamicdrive.com. Some small changes were made so that the sub-menu won't disappear, and so the correct tab stays selected.

CSS (Cascading Style Sheets)
Font tags are no longer in use in the site, and all style classes are defined in linked stylesheets.

JavaScript
Only a small amount of Javascript is currently being used. It's used in the menu, in the homepage for image-swapping, and on the feedback form for validation prior to submitting the form.

MySQL Database
The include-files for photos and team members query the database for content. Since the content is dynamic, only one include-file is needed for each of these sections, even though there are hundreds of members (past and present), and hundreds of photos.

PhpBB Forum
The forum is new this year. The open source PhpBB is used, which also takes advantage of the MySQL database.

Compatibility
The site is optimized for 1024 x 768 browser size or screen resolution. It supports Internet Explorer 5.0 and above, FireFox and Chrome browsers.
